Back of the Book:

The year is A.D. 793. Shawna does not believe in dragons. Yet they come. They come from the north, three Viking dragonships of the Danes, to plunder and destroy. Her family slain, Shawna is torn from her island home just off the coast of Ireland. In a gallant gesture, the powerful Doyle Dalaiin adopts her and her nephews. Doyle’s son, a scholar and a man of God, grows to love the fiercely independent Shawna. His gentle spirit and intellect are a comfort to her, and they share a passion for the Scriptures. But as her friendship with a captured Norse slave develops, she realizes she has more than one passion. Confused by her feelings for a man who helped slay her people, Shawa learns to trust in God’s wisdom, care, and perfect timing. Follow Shawna as she copes with her turbulent world in this unusual novel of love, hate, faith, and daring action.

My Review:

WOW! What an amazing, adventurous book! The twists and turns kept coming, and the results were not predictable at all. I didn’t want to put the book down. It was filled with so much action and suspense, that I would recommend this book to any reader who fancies historic adventures.

There were a few things that happened that confused me, like why certain people were killed when they were, but most of them I was able to see the purpose of in an over-arching story. Everything that happened had a reason for being written. Nothing was just idle chit-chat.

The theme of the book was trusting in God’s plan. Sandy did a good job of showing how happiness can come when you least expect it, and out of circumstances that would not seem to bring any happiness at all.

I don’t know much about the Viking era in Ireland, but it appears that Sandy did her research, and she is very knowledgeable about it. It seems very accurate.

This book was really cool. You should read it.

I only reiterate it to give you a good understanding of what the book is about.
