Back of the Book:

Lauren Phillips. While recovering from a broken engagement, Lauren Phillips manages to keep busy working full-time and studying to finish her college degree. But one day, everything changes when Lauren enters the wild, uncharted territory of the Internet on her home computer and connects with a mysterious—and intriguing—man she knows only as K.C.

Despite her busy schedule, Lauren’s e-mail relationship with K.C. quickly becomes the thing she loves most in life…and the source of dreams she cannot bear to relinquish. When the opportunity comes for them to meet after a year of corresponding, Lauren faces a tough choice: Is she willing to risk everything…including another broken heat?

My Review:

This is one of my favorite books because of the way Lauren and K.C. met. They only corresponded by email, yet fell in love. It mirrors my own efforts at finding someone through eHarmony. I was able to understand all the uncertainties about finally meeting.

Robin gives a warning to the reader at the end of the book along the lines of "don’t try this at home." I realize this book was written in 1996, and the internet wasn’t what it is today. At that time all you heard were stories of people getting hurt by agreeing to meet someone they thought they knew but really didn’t. The internet is so much different now, though. There are safe ways to contact people, and things you can do to protect yourself. eHarmony is a great site, because you only go through their site until you decide you know the person well enough for email, etc. Not everyone is out to take advantage of people. There are safe ways of ‘meeting’ online. The key is to be careful.

The ending of the book was very charming and entertaining. I loved how the two of them finally met, and how they responded to each other.

All reviews on this site are broken up into two parts. The first half is what the back of each book says. It is under copyright by the companies that published the books. I only reiterate it to give you a good understanding of what the book is about. The second half is my own personal review and should not be copied or otherwise taken without my express permission unless you give me credit for saying it and link back to the page it is posted on.
