Science Fiction
Firebird
The back of the book doesn’t have a review from the company, so there’s really nothing for me to type other than Kathy’s explanation of the book’s idea.
Straight from Kathy Tyers in the first few pages of the book:
God created not Earth but different worlds.
Light-years away, faithful exiles awaited
the Messiah of all creation.
My Review:
Kathy’s book is one great "what if?" What if God had created other worlds? What if the promised Messiah didn’t arrive in the age of crucifixions? What if he arrived in the age of space travel and space battles? What if he was to come for the entire galaxy and not just one world? Would the galaxy be able to accept him?
I was skeptical of this book at first, but came to love it shortly after beginning it. Lady Firebird’s character was entertaining and likable. The aspect of possessing mind-control abilities was also intriguing. I have often wondered what it would be like to be a telepath like the Betazoids in Star Trek or the Jedi in Star Wars. Reading this book and Lady Firebird’s struggle with her own abilities was great.
Born last in a royal family left her little opportunity to do much of anything in her own country. She struggled with having to join the space forces or kill herself, as tradition dictated. Little did she know what kind of adventure she would be thrown into: love and a chance at a new life.
I didn't realize that Kathy Tyers also wrote Star Wars books until after I finished this book. I can definitely see the resemblance in her writing to that of Star Wars books. They both have the same suspenseful action. I can see why I loved reading Star Wars so much!
