Back of the Book:

Born to a royal family, Prince Nicolai has grown up knowing he will be heir to the throne and to his people’s hearts. Having suffered the early and painful death of his first wife, he agrees to an arranged marriage to fulfill an ancient statute that the heir be married by his 26th birthday.

Shelby is a young Christian woman, a commoner who marries the Prince for the sake of her country. Secretly, however, she loves Nicolai deeply.

The prince and new princess live together as strangers for many weeks, but in time Nicolai is drawn to Shelby’s pure heart and lovely demeanor. Yet it never occurs to Shelby that the prince could truly feel affection for her. But by the time Nicolai comes to love Shelby, she has walled off her heart to protect herself. Can he tenderly scale that wall?

This story of unexpected love awakened is a must read for fans of Christian romance!

My Review:

The "learnability" factor of this book is low in regards to what I learned about my faith, but I still think it’s a worth-while book to read. Lori covers issues like trust, truth, and she defines love. I learned more about relationships in general that I know will help me out in the future.

One aspect of her book that I absolutely love is the way she portrays Shelby’s fear. I was able to connect with her and knew exactly what she was feeling. In some books you can read that the main character is scared, but you don’t feel the danger or feel afraid yourself. Lori puts things in a way that really connects the reader to the character, and eventually shows how our fear is sometimes unfounded.

This book is on my list of favorites, and I would recommend it to anyone….especially those who are new to the dating or the relationship scene. It is very helpful and is a very enjoyable read.

All reviews on this site are broken up into two parts. The first half is what the back of each book says. It is under copyright by the companies that published the books. I only reiterate it to give you a good understanding of what the book is about. The second half is my own personal review and should not be copied or otherwise taken without my express permission unless you give me credit for saying it and link back to the page it is posted on.
