The Pursuit
Back of the Book:
1813-Collingbourne in the Spring
Edward Steele has enjoyed a great adventure in Africa with his brother, Henry. But now Henry has returned to England, and Edward, hoping to be home for Christmas, is ready to follow.
However, Edward has always been a man of his word. And when aboard ship he tells two strangers he will help them, he stands by that promise—never dreaming that meeting these two men will put a woman into his life who captivates and confounds him in equal measure.
After rendering assistance to the gentlemen, which costs him valuable time, Edward continues on his way, believing he will never see his fellow travelers again. He cannot foresee that when spring comes to Collingbourne, his life will be changed forever.
My Review:
This was actually the first Lori Wick book I’ve ever read. (I know that’s odd as it’s the fourth book in a series.) What captured my attention about this book was the fact that it had so much action and adventure. There were twists and turns in the story line that were new to me, and the surprise in the middle of the book sent me for a loop! I wasn’t able to put it down!
Sadly, as I’m sure you’ve read before, I can’t remember specifically what I learned from this book. It’s all on the jumbled together with her other books.
But I did enjoy this book so much I wanted to read all the others in the series. I immediately went out and read the first three. I did have to reread this book again to understand all the connections with previous characters, but all of Lori’s books are stand-alones if you want to only read one or two. She continues the story of previous books in the new ones so that you can see how the old characters are getting along in life. I love that about her books.
