The Rescue
Back of the Book:
When Anne Gardiner slips from a ladder into the arms of a handsome stranger, her unstable father, Colonel Gardiner, deems it cause for immediate marriage. Anne quickly agrees while the flustered Robert Weston stammers in amazement. At first believing that he’s been taken by charlatans, Weston eventually sees that the "marriage" was performed for the Colonel’s sake and that Anne had little choice in the matter. His feelings change completely when he learns that she’s sacrificed her own reputation to protect his name. But Weston’s heart has told him that love is overrated, and Anne has survived on her own for years. Will they trust God, and recognize love when it finally reaches them?
My Review:
The beginning of the book was a bit surprising and comical. I loved it. I was immediately drawn in to discover what happens next.
This book is similar to The Princess, wherein the two main characters get married before they fall in love. It was fun to witness how their hearts became intertwined.
Anne was such a meek person that she didn’t want to trouble anyone for anything. She was always saying "please" and "thank you" and getting embarrassed when gifts were showered upon her. I found her personality charming. You became instantly drawn to her.
The story was fun and happy. I’m glad I was able to read it.
