Wildflowers
Back of the Book:
Genevieve Ahren’s dream is coming true at last! Glenbrooke’s Wildflowers Café goes up for sale, and Genevieve knows she can make it into something special.
However, her new venture is far from easy. With her husband gone so often due to his career as an international airline pilot, Genevieve is alone in making all the important decisions. Her heart is empty and hollowed out…like an isolated cottage boarded up for a long winter season.
It’s in the solitude of this dark season that Genevieve discovers friends she didn’t realize she had. When this small circle of tenderhearted women rallies around her, Genevieve finds light streaming in through the door of her heart. A door she thought she had locked and bolted long ago. The biggest surprise of all is when Genevieve realizes she is giddily in love—with the last man she expected could make her feel this way!
My Review:
Admittedly it has been a long time since I’ve picked up this book. It has been over a year since I read it, so I will try to remember it.
I felt deep compassion for Genevieve when nothing seemed to go her way. I was able to feel her pain and know what she was feeling just by the way the author wrote it. The story was entertaining and heart-warming.
This book showed how valuable the Bible is to us. It was portrayed as God’s love letter to us. God always has something in it for us to read and draw strength from. We need only to have an open mind about it.
It also addressed the problem of harboring ill feelings towards others and rolling away the stones that cut us off from others. We are not to search for the negatives, but look for the positives in others.
Also, this book showed that writing letters to other people to tell them how much you appreciate them is a very powerful thing. It helps us to encourage and strengthen our fellow man.
